Bakery saves £10k and 69 hours of labour annually by overcoming costly maintenance and sanitation procedures
A UK bakery processor had the goal of reducing the maintenance and sanitation time of a processing belt being used on a savory pastry line. The production process involved raw pastry being passed through the machine by the conveyor, before being glazed with egg wash and transported to the ovens.
The existing wire belt could not be removed to allow for deep cleaning, which resulted in frustrations of lengthy and costly manual cleaning whilst the belt remained in situ. Due to the design of the wire belt, it would be susceptible to damage during these sanitation processes, which incurred the need for regular and costly belt repair and replacement. It was also recognised that metal belts such as this are considered a potential cause of serious and harmful product contamination and are therefore not the ideal solution for the application.
